iPhone 14 Pro, Apple uses LG’s first OLED screens

iPhone 14 Pro, Apple uses LG’s first OLED screens. Apple has joined the supply of OLED screens for the iPhone 14 Pro, so far produced exclusively by Samsung, with the first panels built by LG, according to reports from Korea IT News. It is not known when the first iPhone 14 Pro with LG OLED display instead of Samsung ones will be shipped.

Apple to add custom accessibility mode to iOS 16.2

In any case, it is practically certain that users will not notice any difference between the two, since Apple has always calibrated and customized hardware components to reach the desired specifications, regardless of manufacturer or supplier.

And over time, Apple’s strategy has always been to work alongside at least two suppliers for the fundamental components, which is still followed today even if with the notable exceptions of chips and processors, all built by TSMC exclusively, and of the modem chips all supplied by beloved hated Qualcomm. But here Cupertino has its first proprietary modem chip in the works that (perhaps) will allow it to say goodbye or reduce dependence on Qualcomm.

For the moment, the percentage of OLED screens that LG will supply to Apple for the iPhone 14 Pro, in relation to the total shipments and with Samsung’s share, does not emerge, but analysts believe that the vast majority is supplied by Samsung, with a percentage significantly lower for LG.

Recall that the iPhone 14 Pro provide an OLED screen with high quality and latest generation LTPO technology, the absolute best in the world in smartphones according to some independent experts. The refresh rate, adjustable from 10Hz up to 120Hz based on the contents and functions performed, can be reduced to 1Hz to reduce energy consumption when iPhone 14 Pro activates the new optional always-on screen mode.

It appears that Samsung is predicting that Apple will introduce its first folding screen device in 2024 and that it will not be an iPhone.
