Problems with Face ID on the RC of iOS 15.7.1

Problems with Face ID on the RC of iOS 15.7.1. A new bug in the iOS 15.7.1 Release Candidate interferes with Face ID, preventing some users from using biometric unlocking on their devices.

Apple Fitness Plus for iPhone arrives on October 24th

On Tuesday, Apple released a beta Release Candidate for iOS 15.7.1, integrating security patches and bug fixes for older devices that can’t be upgraded to iOS 16 and for users who don’t want to make the major update.

Since then, a significant percentage of users have reported that Face ID no longer works on devices with beta installed. Most of the reports come from those who use the iPhone 12 Pro and iPhone 13 Pro models (which can still be updated to iOS 16), but the problem could extend to others as well.

As MacRumors reports, if a user tries to restore the associations to Face ID, he receives the error “Face ID is not available”. The notice also invites users to try again later.

Users reported that removing the iOS 15.7.1 beta profile and installing iOS 16 fixes the problem. RC is usually the last beta before the final release, so Apple is likely to drop another beta to fix this bug before the final release of iOS 15.7.1.
