After the presentation of beta 1 on June 5 at WWDC23 (annual developer conference), Apple first released beta 2, then a first and second beta 3 of iOS to developers 17 and iPadOS 17, preliminary releases (previews) of the future operating system of the iPhone and iPad, Beta 4, beta 5 and now beta 6 of the future operating systems of the iPad, iPhone and Apple Watch were later released.
It is not clear what the specific innovations of this version are at the moment but most likely Apple is focusing on solving small and large bugs, “refine” the system until the day of the release of the final version arrives.
The new software features of iOS 17 will be available to everyone this fall as a free software update for iPhone Xs and later. iPadOS 17 will also be available this fall as a free software update for iPad (6th generation and later), iPad mini (5th generation and later), iPad Air (3rd generation and later), iPad Pro 12.9-inch (2nd generation and later) ), iPad Pro 10.5-inch, and iPad Pro 11-inch (1st generation and later).
