In a technical support document, Apple explains that the original AirPods Pro cushions are formed with a “noticeably denser” structural mesh than that used in second-generation AirPods Pro cushions.

“The ear cushions have been designed for the specific generation of AirPods Pro, to deliver the highest fidelity of the audio experience,” Apple reports in the document, advising accordingly, to use the ear cushions that come standard with the AirPods Pro. ” AirPods Pro (first generation) have a noticeably denser mesh than the cushions of the second generation AirPods Pro ”.

Despite the differences in the mesh, the second generation AirPods Pro ear cushions are physically compatible. The second generation AirPods Pro pads are also sold separately (10.00 euros on the Apple Store online): the package includes two pairs of pads in a size of your choice between extra small, small, medium or large.

In these hours the new AirPods Pro are reaching the first buyers. Apple highlights improved audio performance, and important updates to active noise cancellation and Transparency mode. Now you can take advantage of the touch control to control playback and adjust the volume directly from the stem, as well as greater autonomy, a new charging case and an additional size of ear tips, for a better fit.
