Apple Music: how to switch from Individual to Family plan, and vice versa? Apple Music is Apple’s streaming music service, a direct competitor to Spotify. In between are the Student season tickets at 5.99 euros, or the Individual one at 9.99 euros. Although the Family one is the most expensive, in some cases it could be the most convenient, since it allows up to 6 people to listen to Music at the same time.

In this article we will see how to switch from the Individual plan to the Family plan, and vice versa. In fact, subscribing to a subscription does not bind the user in any case, who can switch from one to the other without any constraints. Just follow the simple steps listed below to upgrade an Individual plan, which allows for single listening, to a family plan.

Apple Music, how to switch from Individual to Family

First, you need to set up Apple’s Family Sharing service. To do this, simply follow the following steps:

On iPhone, iPad or iPod touch

  1. Open on Settings.
  2. Touch your name.
  3. Tap on Family Sharing and choose the Set up family option in the second section, under Find My.
  4. Follow the onscreen instructions to set up your family group and invite people.

Once that’s done, here’s how to upgrade to an Apple Music Family plan subscription:

  1. Open the Apple Music app.
  2. Click Listen Now.
  3. Tap the Account icon in the upper right corner
  4. Tap Manage Subscription
  5. Tap Apple Music
  6. Choose the Family plan

How to switch from Family to Individual?

As already mentioned, choosing a plan is not irreversible. In addition to being able to cancel your subscription at any time, you can also change the chosen plan.

If you have Screen Time turned on for your account, the family organizer should remove you. Otherwise, all you have to do is:

  1. Open Settings on your iPhone or iPad.

  4. Tap Stop using Family Sharing

To switch from the Apple Music Family plan to the individual plan, all you need to do is:

  3. Tap the Account icon in the upper right corner
  4. Tap Manage Subscription
  5. Tap See all plans, then follow the onscreen instructions to complete your purchase for the Individual plan

Note that if you are the Head of Household and change your plan from Family to Individual, Apple will remove access to all members of the family group, but their Apple Music data will remain on Apple’s servers for a short time; this will allow all family members to subscribe to individual plans while preserving their respective music libraries and listening preferences.
