iOS 16 can detect fake (fake) AirPods

iOS 16 can detect fake (fake) AirPods. iOS has displayed a warning to users when it detects non-genuine iPhone or iPad components. However, it looks like Apple is about to take the next step, this time with AirPods. With the release of iOS 16 RC (the last beta before the official release), 9to5Mac discovered that the system will warn users about fake AirPods.

The new iPhone 14 and 14 Plus are almost the same as the iPhone 13

Detect fake AirPods (Fake)

As you know, AirPods are a device that can be said to be faked quite a lot, can say names like “AirPods tiger zebra, tiger horse” or something. This fake version is made to look exactly like the real AirPods, and they can even enable some system features like automatic pairing and battery indicator.

With iOS 16, iPhones and iPads will warn users when they try to pair fake AirPods with the following: “These headphones cannot be verified as genuine AirPods and may not work as expected.”

There is a “Learn more” button that will take users to a support article on Apple’s website with more details on how to check for real AirPods. There is also a “Do Not Connect” option. However, at least for now, there’s no indication that Apple will block these fake AirPods from working with iPhones and iPads.

Of course, this won’t affect third-party wireless headphones. This system was created to detect fake AirPods trying to copy the real thing in terms of appearance.

Built-in AirPods Pro 2

With the launch of AirPods Pro 2 at its “Far out” event on September 7, Apple will now allow users to engrave their own Memoji in the AirPods charging case.

Based on the source code in iOS 16 RC seen by 9to5Mac, AirPods Pro 2 models with text or Memoji engraved on the charging case will come with the same text encoded in its memory. Therefore, the system will be able to read that information to display a charging box image similar to the reality when pairing AirPods with iPhone and iPad.

According to Apple, iOS 16 will be officially released for iPhone users at dawn on September 13, Vietnam time. For iPadOS 16, Apple has confirmed that the update will be released separately in October.
