  1. Open the Watch app on iPhone
  2. Select “General” and from here “Automatic opening”

How to turn off Now Playing on Apple Watch?

To deactivate the function in question from Apple Watch, proceed as follows:

  1. Open Settings on Apple Watch (the cogwheel icon)
  2. Select “General”
  3. Select “Automatic opening” and from here activate or deactivate the “Automatically open audio app” option.

What if you want to re-enable Now Playing on the fly?

If you’ve turned off the Now Playing option on your Apple Watch but still want the ability to control what’s playing on the fly from your Apple Watch, you can do it like this:

  1. Open the Watch app on iPhone
  2. Select “Dock”
  3. In the “Dock Order” section, select the “Favorites” item
  4. (your favorite apps will appear)
  5. Select “Edit” (top right)
  6. In the “Do not include” section, tap the “+” to “Now playing.” (to add the item in question to your Favorites) and choose Finish: from now on, the “Now Playing” option can be called up on the fly by pressing the side button on the Apple Watch.
