iOS 16 beta 5 released, what’s new: percentage charge indicator. Apple today released the fifth developer beta of iOS 16, bringing some small but notable changes to the operating system. The article told what’s new in iOS 16 beta 5.

Battery percentage in status bar

The battery icon in the status bar now displays the exact battery percentage. The feature can be enabled in the Battery section of the Settings app.

The battery percentage display is available on iPhone 12 and iPhone 13, except for the 5.4-inch iPhone 12 mini and iPhone 13 mini. It’s also available on iPhone X and XS, but not on iPhone 11 or iPhone XR.

The battery percentage indicator was not available on the notched iPhone for a long time due to lack of space, so this change will be a welcome change for many users. Before that, you could only find out the exact percentage of the battery by calling the control center or using the battery widget.

New sound when searching for iPhone

When you use the Play Sound option in the Find My app for one of your devices, a new sound is played. It is slightly louder and different from the sound available in previous versions of iOS 16.

New iPhone search sound with Apple Watch

When you activate Find My iPhone with Apple Watch through Control Center, you’ll hear a new sound. This is the same updated sound as in the locator.

Animated music playback indicator on the lock screen

iOS 16 beta 3 added a full-screen music player widget, and beta 5 introduced a new animated music progress bar.

Removing the Perspective Feature

The Perspective feature has been removed for lock screen wallpapers. The switch to disable this feature has also been removed.

It’s possible this feature will return in future betas as it’s been on the iPhone for a very long time.

Music

In the Music app, Apple has moved the Dolby Atmos and Lossless indicators to a different location. The info is now next to the genre instead of under the Play and Shuffle buttons.

Screenshots

When you take a screenshot, edit it, and then click Done, there’s a new “Copy and Delete” option instead of the usual deletion.
