Year 2023: more speed and more autonomy for Apple Watch 9 and Apple Watch Ultra two

Year 2023: more speed and more autonomy for Apple Watch 9 and Apple Watch Ultra two. A new, faster Apple Watch 9 and next-generation Ultra will arrive later this fall. This is one of the anticipations that appear in the new newsletter, published yesterday, PowerOn written by the usually well-informed Mark Gurman for Bloomberg.

In his piece, in the context of which Gurman essentially addresses the theme of the new iPhone 15, he doesn’t say much about the new models, which lets us imagine that there won’t be any important innovations from a functional or aesthetic point of view. The only notable detail is in the processor.

“All of this year’s models will boast a sizable boost in performance thanks to the S9 processor,” Gurman writes. “It is the first time since the S6 chip – introduced in 2020 with the Series 6 – that the lineup gets significant speed improvements”.

It will be a radical renewal of the chip with technologies derived from the A15 which, in addition to performance, could bring improvements in efficiency, including autonomy. Recall that thanks to A15, the battery life of the iPhone 13 had been significantly increased compared to the iPhone 12.

As for Apple Watch Ultra we should expect a second version. It’s not clear what we can expect here either, but it’s more than predictable that Apple Watch Ultra 2023 will have the same S9 processor as Apple Watch 9.

Apple would have thought of also making a “dark titanium” version, but the idea of an Apple Watch Ultra with a dark case was canceled because the aesthetic effect was deemed inadequate. This particular coloring could arrive in 2023 if the Apple manages to create an overall effect to its liking.

Recall that there are rumors concerning the weight of Apple Watch Ultra 2. According to sources that have proved reliable in the past, the new 2023 edition model could be lighter.

Finally we know from Gurman that there won’t be an Apple Watch SE 2023. The previous two generations of Apple Watch SE were introduced in September 2020 and September 2022 respectively and it seems that this model is placed on the trajectory of an update over two years.

The SE, the least expensive in the Apple Watch lineup, does not include some features available in the top models (ECG app, blood oxygen measurement, always-on display and temperature sensor). At this address a guide to choosing an Apple Watch.
